About Sutherland Munros
Sutherland contains Scotland's two most northerly Munros, and they could not be more different from the crowded peaks further south. Ben Hope, the more northerly of the two, rises steeply above the Kyle of Tongue with views stretching to Orkney on a clear day. Ben Klibreck, slightly to the south, is a more rounded mountain set amid the vast Flow Country peatlands.
The landscape here is unlike anywhere else in the Highlands — wide open moorland, scattered lochs, and enormous skies. The mountains feel isolated and significant in a way that the clustered peaks of the west cannot match. Bagging these two often marks a milestone in any Munro-bagger's journey, requiring a dedicated trip to the far north.
Highlights: Ben Hope is the most northerly Munro in Scotland. The views north to Orkney on a clear day are unforgettable.
