About Loch Ness Munros
The mountains west and south of Loch Ness include some of the most rewarding Munro-bagging in the Highlands. Glen Affric, frequently described as the most beautiful glen in Scotland, provides access to high peaks surrounded by remnant Caledonian pinewood. Carn Eige and Mam Sodhail are the highest summits north of the Great Glen.
Further west, the peaks around Glen Cannich and Loch Mullardoch offer long, remote days in serious mountain country. Several of these summits are among the least visited Munros in Scotland, despite the quality of the walking. The area rewards those willing to put in the miles, with fine ridges and a genuine sense of wilderness.
Highlights: Glen Affric is often called Scotland's most beautiful glen. Carn Eige is the highest peak north of the Great Glen.
