About Inner Hebrides Munros
Ben More on the Isle of Mull is the only Munro in the Inner Hebrides outside Skye, and it is a mountain of exceptional character. Rising steeply from the shore of Loch na Keal, its summit offers one of the most remarkable panoramas of any Scottish peak — a full 360-degree sweep that takes in the Outer Hebrides, the mainland mountains, and the scattered islands of the west coast.
The ascent is steep and direct, gaining nearly 1,000 metres from sea level in a relatively short distance. The rock is volcanic — Mull was the site of a massive tertiary volcano — and the terrain is rough, with basalt crags and grassy slopes interspersed. Getting to Mull requires a ferry, which adds to the sense of occasion.
Highlights: Ben More is the highest point on Mull and the only Hebridean Munro outside Skye. The summit views are extraordinary.
