About Fort William Munros
Fort William sits at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, and the surrounding area contains one of the greatest concentrations of Munros in Scotland. The Mamores ridge stretches east from Glen Nevis in an elegant chain of peaks, while the Grey Corries offer a long, high-level traverse above Glen Spean.
The range of climbing here is enormous. Ben Nevis itself can be ascended by the well-worn Mountain Track or tackled via the dramatic north face — one of the great mountaineering cliffs in Britain. The Aonachs provide big, serious mountain days, while peaks like Stob Ban in the Mamores are more accessible. Fort William is the outdoor capital of the Highlands for good reason.
Highlights: Ben Nevis is the highest peak in Britain at 1,345m. The Mamores ridge traverse is a classic multi-day outing.
