The Best Munros Near Stirling

Stirling occupies one of the most strategic spots in Scotland — the historic gateway between the Lowlands and the Highlands — and that makes it a surprisingly good base for Munro bagging. The southern edge of the Highlands begins just up the road, putting a fine selection of Munros within an hour or so of the city. Here are the best.

The closest Munros

• Ben Vorlich and Stùc a' Chroin. The prominent pair above Loch Earn, roughly an hour from Stirling, make a classic and rewarding round — the most obvious big-hill objective from the city.
