About Loch Lomond Munros

The Loch Lomond area offers the most accessible Munro-bagging in Scotland. Ben Lomond, visible from much of the Central Belt, is the most popular Munro in the country — its straightforward ascent from Rowardennan draws thousands of walkers each year. But the region has far more to offer than its most famous peak.

The Arrochar Alps — Ben Ime, Ben Narnain, Ben Vane, and Beinn Bhuidhe — provide much rougher terrain above the head of Loch Long. Ben Vorlich and Stuc a' Chroin above Loch Earn are a classic pairing, while the hills around Crianlarich offer several good days out. The proximity to Glasgow means these mountains see heavy foot traffic at weekends, but midweek they can feel surprisingly quiet.

Highlights: Ben Lomond is Scotland's most-climbed Munro. The Arrochar Alps offer surprisingly rugged terrain close to Glasgow.
