Munros Near Perth
Perth sits at the southern edge of the Highlands, perfectly positioned for access to the finest Munros in Perthshire and the Angus Glens. Ben Lawers, the highest peak in the southern Highlands, is just over an hour's drive via the A827. Schiehallion, one of Scotland's most recognisable mountains, is barely an hour away along the B846.
The Angus Glens to the northeast — Glen Clova, Glen Prosen, and Glen Isla — offer excellent walking on eastern Highland terrain. Driesh and Mayar from Glen Clova make a classic paired walk. To the northwest, the Perthshire peaks including Ben Chonzie and Ben Vorlich are within 45 minutes.
The A9 north from Perth opens up the Drumochter pass and several accessible Munros that can be combined into long days. Perth is an underrated base for Munro bagging — it sits central to a large cluster of achievable peaks that are often quieter than the popular western hills.
